New member, I live on a small crrek which have to use to get to Lake Huron. I am concerned about sucking up bottom. I s there a rock guard afetmarket for my 03 Sportster, Dealer told me that there is no rock guard aftermarket that he knows of and that it would impede my performance. I can live with less performance as long a cooling is achieved and obstuctions can be sreened at the intake.
Thanx in adavnce.

The older doos had crates where the tines were closer together. Not sure if this would fit on your boat, but it might be worth looking into...might just need some extra fabrication to get one too fit.
I found another post about PWC's talking about the same thing, http://www.pwctoday....ad.php?t=170989.

The problem with reducing the waterflow even a little on the 1503 series engines is that they will cavitate badly with any kind of water restriction. We have a display in our showroom where a Challenger 180 customer kept pushing a bad position after sucking up gravel. The result was a melted wear ring and severely warped housing. What should have been a $170 repair ended up being $1,300! That was an earlier model housing however it is still possible on the NA 1503 engines to do the same thing. We suggest you do nothing more than idle in 18" of water, less than that, get out and paddle!
