Then I put the boat back in the water. She is now smoking the blues and stalls out at idle. Then it is very hard to start. We had to take the plugs out as they were drenched in gas. My only thoughts at this point is maybe when I tried to start it that it knocked the timing out somehow and now it is running way too rich.
Any other thoughts on this problem ?
I used 2/3 of a tank of fuel and we hardly did anything. Maybe 20 minutes of pulling a tube and then up and down the lake for short distances. This was my first time to really use this boat for a full weekend and I am thinking the only reason I used so much fuel is because of how rich it is running. Also FYI the boat runs perfect wide open. The only problem is in idle. It smoke, chugs, and barely stays running. You have to hit the throttle to keep it going.
Thanks for the help guys !

Completely off-topic but I noticed your signature says you have a Speedster, your boat is a Challenger 1800 correct? If so you can update the details here, http://seadoosportbo...ofile-info.html, so your signature will be accurate.

Thanks Kevin. No I have a 2000 Challenger 2000.I am not sure of what the exact problem could be, hopefully someone else will be able to chime in with an idea on this one. I do know that you shouldn't be burning that much fuel in that amount of time, our 2000 Speedster had the same engine and we never were able to burn that amount of fuel in such a short period of time...even when pulling someone for that entire time.

I also was not impressed with the amount of spray from the jet. The reason I stopped and sucked up a rope was because I needed to add to my 75 foot rope because my tubers were not impressed with the spray in their face. While I was adding another rope my other one got sucked up. It is very hard to give tubers a good ride with such a long rope. What can I do to tame down the spray ? We live for towing tubes and I usually like about 50-60 feet. This allows for lots of whips and you don't need to have it pinned to whip a tube unlike with a long rope.
Thanks,
Wayne

Have you tried looking into some trim tabs, Bennett makes some for the SeaDoo's here, http://www.bennetttrimtabs.com/. Or maybe even a place diverter, http://www.placediverter.com/, this claims it lets you adjust it. I haven't tried either one of these products myself but they might be worth looking into to see if they would help you eliminate some of the spray.

About the spraying problem(speedster)- my tubers were also complaining about it! It could have caused by the step ladder falling due to old rubber holder. They ended up wearing goggles. Check the ladder and see if it comes loose everytime you ride. And if it does- it also creates a drag that causes your boat to underperform and use more gas... just my opinion....

Hey Wayne,
I purchased 2 of the Air Head tube tow ropes. They are 60' each and what I did was cut one and splice it to the other one. So I'm running some where between 80' - 90' - I can't remember if I cut it in half or not. Either way the added length now gets the tubes out of the jet wash. It works good and you can get a fast whip. I haven't had any complaints
I just did a search and they are on sale at Sport Authority for $14.99 seem like a deal. http://www.sportsaut...pi-1026253.html
As for the stalling and smoking did you try replacing the plugs? You might have a fouled one. I know I had a problem last season every once in a while with low speed idling and it would stall but as soon as I got on it it was fine - ended up being the plugs (they were the originals)
Good luck and post up what you find.
Andy

The boat drives great but we live for tubes and so far I am not a fan of the jet wash. Power is good though.
Thanks,
Wayne
