I've been reading the forums and it seemed that gel coat or stress crack is a common problem. I am a little bit concerned about this. I am in the market of purchasing my first brand new boat. This poll will help me decide if I should stay as a loyal fan of SeaDoo products. I've had total of 4 SeaDoo pwcs and 1 SeaDoo sport boat. Thanks for your input!

My 2000 Speedster started showing stress cracks around a couple of the cleats in 2003, I was lucky enough to get these covered under the 5 year hull warranty.

My 2001 Sportster had stress cracks around the cooler behind the rear facing seat. I had them repaired using oem gel cote. You can't even tell they were there.
Stress cracks are not a really big problem. All boats, even the mega yachts that I work on get them. The problem is that gel cote is hard and brittle and boats flex. As long as the crack is only in the gel cote, and not in the underlying fiberglass, it is purely cosmetic. The only way to stop them is to stop the flexing. This is not always practical to do.
