Starting out of water

Getting ready to put the boat in the water for the year. Last year we put it in the water & she wouldn't stay running so had to take her out for servicing. Is it alright to start her out of the water? If yes then how long should I run her to make sure everything is OK?

What model do you have? You can run it out of the water for a longer period of time but you will need to hook a water hose up to it while it is running so you don't burn up the engine. :thumbup1:

2004 Sportster LE DI.
Really just want to see if it starts. Had it winterized & tuned up before we put it in the garage.

You can run her dry for up to about a minute, any longer than that hook it up to a water hose, even on the hose no longer than three minutes, even through you are cooling the engine and exaust the carbon seal on the drive shaft through hull is not being cooled. See you on the water....
