Also what is everyone's top end speed on theirs ? I am hoping for 55mph with one person on flat water.
Can't wait for the ice to melt up here in Alberta !

Is pulling three people safe? Speed is a little subjective in the jet boat dept. 55 mph might be just a touch high. I have a 1800 with twin Rotax 787's, Nujet impellors and longer nose cones. On my Garmin I have squeeked out 55 twice for over a mile. 55.4 I beleave. I can jerk two adults out of the water on a big bertha like it wasnt there. Never tried three tubes before though. The factory ski pylon may not work for three people as it pitches the nose of my boat up so bad with two people though.Hi I just bought a 2000 Challenger 2000 w/ the 240hp Merc. I've owned PWC's before and outboard boats but never a jet boat. I was wondering how the pulling power is on this jetboat. We do a lot of tubing with multiple tubes. Does this boat have enough pulling power to pull 3 tubes with adults ? How strong are the ski poles ?

interesting you have your nose pitch up with one tube. I'm used to pulling up to 3 tubes with a 17 Glastron with a 120 outboard. No problems with the nose of the boat whatsoever. If your boat does that with one tube I am thinking I bought a boat that will not work for me as we do lots of tubing. Is pulling three people safe? and no there is no problem with 3 tubes as long as you are a seasoned driver.
Have you wakeboarded behind your boat ? I am hoping that my 20ft boat will at least have the same size wake as my 17' outboard. I've never had a jetboat before I've had 3 Seadoo PWC's but I wanted my own boat as I share the 17' with my family and I can't use it all the time. I am hoping to have speed with awesome turning and fun like my PWC's but I am also hoping to have pulling power and a decent wake for tubing and wakebaording.
We do lots of pullin so I hope I am not dissapoined. I will let you know how many mph I get. I hope I hit 55 or at minimum 50.
Thanks,
Wayne

I've hit 53 mph and change with me and a 230 lb passenger on the Hudson River (which is far from glass like).Hi I just bought a 2000 Challenger 2000 w/ the 240hp Merc. Comments:
1) There's PLENTY of power in that 240EFI. The acceleration is incredible. I had a "waterskier with attitude" behind the boat one time and he said "give it full throttle". I said no, but he made such a fuss about it ("I've skied behind professional ski boats, just do what I say") that finally I did what he asked. Result: It broke the tow rope handle and his wrist along with it. Swelled up like a grapefruit in about two minutes. When he finally got back on board, his first words were "I've NEVER felt anything pull like that".
2) It will happily pull multiple tubes with multiple adults, and doing so will not "strain the engine". But don't tow inflatables from anything except the tow point, down low just above the swim deck. Don't use the ski pylon nor a tower, if you have one. This is true for all boats. Inflatables put too much strain on the pylon/tower and can damage your fiberglass.
3) Top speed is about 55-ish. I've never measured with a GPS, but I've also never been outrun by anything except bass boats with BIG engines and hopped-up jetskis. I've never lost an on-water race to another boat of similar design regardless of their engine(s). The main reason is because, even if they have a better top-end speed, your C2K will literally JUMP up on plane instantly and you'll leave them behind while they take several long, slow seconds to plane out. Unless you're racing for quite some distance they'll have a hard time making up the difference. It's really fun.
4) The hull creates a decent beginner's wake at speeds of 18-25 MPH. Below that most boarders aren't stable, and above that the hull is efficient enough that it doesn't make much wake. My friends and I are getting air on our wakeboards, especially now that I have a tower installed.
Bottom line: It's a great boat and a great engine. If I destroyed this one today I'd look hard to find an identical one to replace it tomorrow. All my friends with other boats are always talking about upgrading for some reason, but my wife and I often mention to each other that we are completely delighted and think the boat is perfect.
Have fun!
