I purchased the boat about a couple of months ago. I've noticed that the gel coat cracks are getting worse each time I use the boat- almost every weekend! As of today, both sides of the boats have the cracks . About a foot long on the left hand side and two feet on the right hand side next to the gas cap.
I am trying to get some estimates for the repair. Has anyone had the same problem? How much did it cost you to fix the problem?

Unfortunately, I did not get any feed back from our members. Anyway, the gel coat cracks were never fixed. Instead, my mechanic had reinforced it with fiberglass. He said that the spider cracks were just cosmetic damage. While he had the boat, spark plugs were replaced and gas tank baffle? replaced as well. Now my gas gage works and no more irritating buzzer everytime I start up the boat!!!! Final bill: $600, if I want the gel coat fixed---It will cost me $600-700 more!!!! Forget that.....

I've tested the boat last Sunday and I'm glad I had the service done early! I missed that 55mph rush, the jumps, and my hat!

Sorry, I must have missed this post. I had some stress cracks around the cleats on my boat, but I was able to get them covered under the 5 year hull warranty at the time. I was told the same thing though that they were just cosmetic and not structural. Glad you were able to find a fix for it!

Any clues on how to stop the webs? I have not noticed any new ones after using the boat Sunday. Anyway, even with the stress cracks, I am still happy with my boat's overall handling and performance. It reminds me of my previous pwcs. I was actually thinking of trading this one for a new 2007 180challenger($16999 sale price) a few days ago but I think I'll just keep this one for another season. Hmmm, maybe I can still get a decent trade-in $ for my boat---- and make new monthly payments.......

They didn't give me any ideas to prevent future webs, they just said it was due to stress. Mine being around the cleats were from the ropes pulling on the cleat when tied to the dock. I think the only thing you can do is re-enforce the area and hopefully that will prevent them from spreading. If they stop from that point the next thing you can do is take it to a gelcoat specialist and have them address the cosmetic issues.
