Hello,
we have a problem with our challenger 2000 2001.
When we drive, everything goes fine for about 5 minutes then the engine cut-off. We are able to restart but, same thing happen over and over again. After a little investigation, we found out that there was a blown 3 amp fuse on the engine. This fuse is (when you look at the engine from the inside of the boat) on the right side. It is located just after a relay and connects to a square box with 2 wires. It has a fuel line in and a fuel line out. It looks to us that it is some kind of fuel pump or booster pump but we arent sure. I would like to know the name of that part if anyone can help or, somewhere i could look to located it.
We have replaced the fuse with another 3 amps one and didn't took long for it to blow. So we have tried with a 5 amps one to see if there was a short in the path or if the problem was with wiring or the (PUMP?) itself. We had no problem with it since, so my suspicion is that this part or the wires to it are defective wich cause an increase of current and, boom, fuse blow
If anyone can help
Thanx
Need to identify a part :)

I guess make sure it is all dry and that no wires are touching off each other.

A 5amp fuse is still a low fuse and shouldd not cause wires to melt.
Keep on looking for the trouble. Unplug all connections on this wire, apply dielectric grease or silicon spray on all connections.
It could be the unit this fuse powers that is at fault.
If the 5amp fuse blows it's time to stop boating until U sort it out.

The part i was looking for is the low pressure pump. It is still working tho I will start by changing the fuel filter (wich has never been changed) then, will put back a 3 amp fuse and test again. If not, time to look further into ittry to find the part at www.brp.com parts catalogs, link below is all one line.I guess make sure it is all dry and that no wires are touching off each other.

The problem is solved, looks like my father in law never had a tune up done on the boat, the in-line fuel filter and the water separator were due up. Changed both and replaced the 5 amp fuse for a 3 amp one. Went for a ride with an amp meter connected between the fuse and the low pressure pump. I had reading of 0.96 amp.
Everything works great now, back to original state and power
Anyone could tell me were i could get the manual for the engine ?
Thanx,
Mobidoy.
