Since I bought this boat in 2005, I noticed I was getting water in the bilge occasionally and the bilge pump would come on. I complained about it and the Techs could never duplicate the problem. Three trips to the dealer on this at $150 a pop. They finally found a void in the seam where the upper shell is bonded to the hull back by the swim ladder underneath the rub rail. The dealer said it is clearly a factory flaw. After a lot of arguing with BRP, Seadoo said they would pay the $1600 to have it fixed.
NOW as it turns out , Seadoo knew about this problem, since they have had several 2005 Sportsters with the very same issue. But they initially told me it was casued by abuse which was total BS. I'm 55 years old, have been a boater for 35 years and take miticlous care of all my boats. As soon as they get done fixing this leak, its up for sale. If any one wants a Sportster SCIC 215 with a brand new engine with two hours on it, $9500.
I've had it.

Vince,
My Islandia has the same problem but I'm out of warranty. Do you know what they ar doing to fix the problem? Seems like an expensive fix.

Vince - I had the identical problem with my 2005 Sportster. I got mine run up on shore just as the water came over the floor hatch in the cockpit. You can't believe what I had to do to fix mine. My dealer told me that I "abused" mine too. Guess what - I'm 55 Y/O too!! Guess our age group is too rough on these things. I have mine for sale for the same $9500.00 and I WILL take any offers!!

My 2006 Sportster SCIC was a champ for the 4yrs I had her, only structural issue
I had was the drivers side flip-up helm was split in the fiberglass a bit and after
3yrs had some small cracks in the helms gellcoat (that thing did also get slammed down
a number of times). And I did lose the steering wheel center cover (glued the replacement)
No leaks ever, everything worked, engine started in 1 second every time.
Just oil changes and a few impellors (turn off engine when close to shore). Good on gas...
Well the tower did rattle a bit but...

Well hello there fellow bananna boaters..!
I have owned a 15' jet boat every year since it's launch and have had good luck..with every model up until later last summer my 2007 SCIC Sportster just about went to Davey Jone's locker.
We had a number of asshole 40+' boater come thru as a group and no one was really on plane...as a result many smaller boats were swamped and I was away that afternoon...only to come home and find my boat just about completely under water (engine)..only being held from the bottom by the ropes tied to my dock.
We could never really fingure out how and why and it took a couple of trips to the doctor to find the leak and fix the miss running motor..(still not the same)
Were you eventually compensated by BRP?
We figured the water coming in the back was so much...as soon as the bildge port was under water ... the rest was history.
I paid for a half assed repair job...that I believe works but would like to get my motor looked at by BRP...waddaya think.
Cheers and thanks for the info.

You're fine....they are a great little boat for the wife and kids and I have had lots of fun myself.
It would be a good idea to have the leaking hull seal problem at the back checked out to avoid a watery grave one day...but other than normal maintenance and a good size credit card for the gas (normally WOT) ...ENJOY!
