There is NO way a single engine Challenger can go that fast! The 45 MPH figure you mentioned is just about right. The 1996 Speedster with twin 85 HP engines did right at 55 MPH. I'm sorry but it sounds like everything is working just right. Enjoy!I keep reading various posts on the net that claim that a 96 Challenger with a single 787 Rotax engine such as mine, can top out at a speed of 55 - 60 mph. I have never been able to get mine past 45 mph and this is on a perfect day where the lake has no swells and a glass surface, and I am only carrying myself and one passenger. (otherwise, I top out at about 40) Does anyone actually know if this machine is capable of going 55 - 60 mph with no mods? If so why won't mine go this fast. The engine seems to run fine, and the impeller is almost new. Any input for me?

I would like to take a look at the fuel filters in the carbs to see if they have ever been cleaned. How easy is that to do?
