I'm looking at purchasing a 2007 Challenger 180SE but I would like to know if it has enough power to carry 4 adults, a full tank of gas and pull up a slalom skier? I like all the features of the boat which really suits the family but I'm wondering if I should jump up to a twin engine model like the Utopia, even though I don't want to spend all the extra money.
Enough Power???

I own a 05 that was new in 06 and I am right now in the process of trading off my Doo. I can’t express the amount of time and money I have invested in attempting to enable the boat to do exactly what you are suggesting. With four adults in my boat, even trying to pull a tube is almost impossible and in my opinion unsafe. The response from the boat when under load is terrible. This boat from what I have experienced is designed for two people, any more than that unless they are light passengers – you will not be satisfied.
Hope this helps.

I've had my 2005 C180SE for three summers now, and for almost every weekend, Sat. and Sun. I've had my boat loaded down with up to 7 passengers, but average four or five, skiis, a tube, wakeboard, etc...and I fill my tank up every time b4 we go out...
I have never had a problem with 4 adults aboard while pulling a tube, skiier, or wakeboarder.
Like I said, I've had up to seven people on my boat at once, and I could def. feel it. I really don't like to take more than 6 adults out at once. Anything more and it's just too crowded.
I would just suggest you try to keep the boat as evenly balanced with weight as possible..meaning weight on both sides of the boat. If there are say three adult 200lbs men on one side, and two 130lbs. women on the other...you're not going to have fun..the boat handles like crap!
But I love my boat!! It does just fine on the lake for us:)
I hope this helps:)

YOu must have a problem with your boat, because my 05 is revvin' at 7900 RPM with the OEM prop, just ordered a Solas SRX-CD-14/19R to put on the boat, it now have a cold air intake, metal supercharger washers, and the boat is pulling hard...but yet is only doing stock top speed of about 46 mph....i was told that up here in Canada with our cold water temp i can easily do 50 mph only with the Sols impeller mod...next step is a Green Wheel supercharger impeller to double the amount of boost, and maybe an external intercooler+ 42 lbs injectors.
My goal is to be close to 55 mph on top while pulling even harder on the acceleration....i really love that boat....very satisfied with it.
