I'm new to boating so forgive my ignorance. I just bought a 430hp 230 wake which in my mind translates to lots of power and speed. However, the fastest I've been able to get it to go is 40mph! I've checked the intake and it seems to be clear. It has less than 10 hours on the water so I can't imagine it's a mechanical problem. It has a 'perfectpass' system which I haven't even touched yet. Why is my boat so slow or am I expecting too much? Could the perfectpass system be slowing it down...also, it seems the left engine revs at much higher rpm's than the right. The left runs consistantly at ~7000 rpms while the right runs at ~3000.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
help with my new 430hp 230 wake

I know other SCIC motors run like 7800RPMs at wide open throttle. Not sure what the top speed is supposed to be...but your rpms are troublesome.
Do you have any other symptoms, noise, vibrations? Did it ever run to 7800or so RPMS?
Take it to the dealer...don't take it out on the water again that almost always causes more damage.

The 230 Wake Perfect Pass will do that to you if it is set too low and is on. You have to manually turn it off at which time you will find the boat runs around 7,800 RPM at around 55 MPH. Also make sure the fat sacs are empty! We have set up several 230 Wakes here and find the Perfect Pass (which operates on one engine by the way) to be very interesting until it is calibrated using a GPS. You have to work the throttle in combination with the Perfect Pass system until there is about 200 RPM difference between engines at the preselected RPM AND speed. The owners manual that came with your boat as well as the small "how to calibrate the speedometer card" are a bit confusing but will explain the operation very well. I wish the "highway dealers" out there realized WAKE customers need to have there boats water tested to set up and check all of the special features the boat offers.

So, how does everyone llike these 23 foot boats so far? I saw one at Havasu last week and it looked nice on the water. Still unsure about the new boat. I don't want to get burned.
