As you can imagine, the two don't mix. While trailering the ski this weekend, I noticed that gas had vented and ran down the side of the ski, right on to my mats in the footwell-
I immediately ran copious amounts of Dawn/water over the affected area- but it was too late. The 3M came loose and the neoprene shrank on the ends of 2 pieces. Just a friendly piece of advice- if there is any way possible for gas to get on your turf- from filling up the tank and overflowing to spilling any other way, be careful!!

Yep, it was definitely a bummer..... Imagine my surprise after I thought I had washed everything away, and then I took the cover off yesterday and saw my shriveled turf..... I think I might cry.....

Well, finally got the replacement turf- it was actually 40 bucks with the 3M self stick . I feel better now. Remind me to tell you how well the 3M adheres!!

Has anybody removed the factory stuff (swim platform) in order to install the Hydro-Turf?

I am debating as to whether or not to do this on my Speedster.

Yea same here wondering how difficult it will be to take off the glue on the deck, platform ect,?

Hydroturf states in their instructions that you dont have to remove all of the old material, as long as there isnt any loose stuff left on the surface. I, on the other hand, preferred a clean surface- it is pretty easy to get it all off, including the glue, using acetone and a rag. On my XP, the factory mats weren't neoprene, but hard plastic mats held on by rivets. My 97 Speedster had the neoprene which I did remove once to reglue- and I did use acetone. They were barely holding on anyway.
Kevin did his 2000 Speedster, but I'm not sure what it had to begin with.

Mine just had a smooth deck surface with a little texture to prevent slipping, there was nothing for me to remove. I just cleaned it real well and stuck it down. This will be my 4 season with the turf and it is still holding well!

thanks for the responce tigger, my mats have shrunk a little to where the glue is showing alittle so looks time to replace, now to price

Mine did the same thing- I didn't replace, just reglued to sell it.
