I was checking out my new boat tonight and noticed something about the throttle that I'd like to hear from other owners if normal or not.
While moving the throttle lever and simultaneously watching the throttle actuator under the trunk almost the first two inches of throttle lever actuation do not begin to move the throttle body actuator.
Likewise, at full throttle on the lever I can reach in and twist the throttle body open another little bit. Does my throttle need adjusting. Am I missing low speed adjustment and missing full throttle or is this normal?
Thanks

So, in reverse the throttle is locked to about 1/10th travel.
In my boat when in reverse the throttle lever does not increase the engine speed. So I think there is some slack I need to adjust. However, another forum suggests that the throttle flapper is not necessarily wide open when at its fully actuated detent. You need to look in to make sure the butterfly is straight.

Upon taking the boat out it looks like I get ~7800 RPM or so and it sounds like this is close enough to 8k to assume its true wide open.
So I looked at the throttle actuator last night and found some adjustment screws and fiddled away with it. I can take up all the slack and give back some throttle control in reverse, but this means the full throttle position is adjusted to.
How do I take up the slack but not affect the wide open position? It seems to me like I need to open up the throttle lever by the steering wheel and readjust a full throttle stop there but I don't know if that exists or not.
Any tips on how to do this properly? thx
Below: Photo of the throttle linkage adjuster that is about 30 cm away from the throttle actuator on the engine (the one that I adjusted)
Below #2 photo of throttle and the actuator very close to it that I did not experiment adjusting
