Hi, our new to us sportster SCIC beeps twice when the DESS key in inserted. This is good. Then it starts beep 4 times every couple seconds. This means the shifter is not in neutral. I put it in netural. I expect one beep to confirm neutral but instead I keep getting 4 beeps every couple seconds. The boat does fire up so the starting is not locked out.
Is this normal?
Also, the beeper is really really loud and annoying. I'd like to quieten it a bit. Anyone know where it is located?
thx

I learnt on another forum this is normal and means the boat is waiting for you to start it, reminding you not to leave the key in for too long.

Yes, my '05 Sportster 4-TEC does the same thing. I would be helpful if BRP mentioned it in the operator's guide.

I have an '06 sportster SCIC, i go to miami beach all the time in it and its a blast. When you first put the key in it beeps twice to let u know that its the right key then it beeps four times to let u know that the key is on, that doesnt have to do with the shifter at all.
