My top speed is 54.4 by myself with less than half tank of gas, and smooth water. I don't drive WOT very often, but it sure is fun.

Thanks Jake, I thought i read somewhere that they were saying the non-SCIC version doing around 51mph (maybe that was just indicated by the speedo?) and was hoping that the SCIC would get closer to 60. But 54.4 is no slow poke by any standard on water! I think I would be happy with that speed, thanks for the post

With Myself and about a half tank of gas, and pretty much nothing else on board, I did a GPS run of 53.5 mph on smooth water with a crosswind of about 10-15 mph. The speedometer read 55 mph. I'm pretty happy with this speed but it's not the 60+ that I'd heard that it would do.

Yes it is possible. I have reached 62.3 GPS . This was on very large lake ,smooth as glass,1 POB,1/2 tank,no top or tower, fresh coat of wax. Hit mid 50's easy , slowly climbed to max.

Sportster 4tec (non scic ), solo, smooth surface, saw gps @ 49 mph.

I clocked 57 with the GPS in the intercoastal waterway. Little chop, 3/4 tank and two people.

I think i will call it the NASCAR syndrome .Two identical prepped machines under same conditions will produce one slightly faster than other. Quess it depends if your boat came off the line on a monday or friday at quittin time.

2006 Sportster 4tec 155hp ( Not Scic) I have hit 57mph (gos clocked) on a smooth lake, full tank of gas, by myself. The sportster hit 50 easily and with gained momentum over a few minutes and a smooth surface it climbed those extra few mph. I have raced two scic's and won or have been the same as them. I have yet to see an advantage of the scic.

As stated before I got 62.3 Gps . That number is bigger than your number. I guess its a guy thing. If your ever up in lake weir i'll give you a shot at another win Besides the SCIC sticker always gets the guys talking and the girls lookin Got to admit thats bout the fastest non super sportster I've heard of . Keep on DOOIN havin fun is the name of the game

I saw an online review where I thought the SCIC maxed out at around 55 mph - perhaps that was for the 150hp engine (my insurance company freaks at anything above 40mph). On smooth water in my '06 SCIC, my speedo was pinned at 70 mph at about 9/10ths throttle. I was equally thrilled and terrified at the same time...
