Hello,
I am new to the board and glad that I found it! I just picked up my brand new 2006 SeaDoo Sportster 4-Tec NA yesterday. We took it to the lake today and started checking everything over and test drove it. As for the running, It ran great and all but, I noticed a buzzing from one of the speakers. I looked at it closer and found that one of the center chrome tweeter domes was pushed in. How do you remove the speaker grill cover to access the speaker itself? I believe that I can stick a piece of tape on the chrome dome and "pop" it back out like I have done with automotive speakers in the past. Any advice would be appreciated. I could take it back to the dealer but, at 2 hours away, it ain't worth the trip. Thanks,AL

I think you just have to rotate the speaker grill and it should come off.

I appreciate your advice. Also called Clarion today and was told that the grill pops off but, it may break and could need replacing. I guess I am going to find out one way or another shortly. I will post me results. Also, to anyone who has replaced their speakers with upgrades, what brands do you recommend? Thanks

I opted for Polk Audio MOMO marine speakers...sound simply awesome and very smooth highs. The 6.5" speakers have an adjustable tweeter so you can direct it in whatever direction sounds best. I also installed 2 10" Polk subs so my oldest son and his buddies can impress the girlz

Cool set up with the Polk! I located a set of the Memphis Marine 6.5" with crossovers at my local car audio shop today. They were $149.00 but, still undecided on which brand. I like the JL Audio and Kicker brands as well. Also thought about having my two factory Clarions replaced under warranty since the tweeter domes have been poked in and they have started loosing some of the shiny chrome looking coating. I will go with a Clarion amp and sub if I do this option I believe. Since my little Sportster is not as large as the Challenger, I think a three speaker system could work ok. Any ideas?

there are plenty of upgrades you can make to your doo. I have 4 memphis marine 6.5 speakers and 2, 8 inch memphis subs. I also have a memphis 100.2 amp running the whole thing. It dont sound like much equipment, but its super loud, and more than youll ever need. The skier can hear it plain as day. Let me know if you need any equipment, as I run a car stereo shop. son of gofast

I replace the two factory speakers .Then put two 6.5 in bow at first step , on either side ,angling towards each other . The two 8's ,one on each side about even with throttles. Amp goes behind gauges , be sure to secure. Enjoy your tunes.

When I heard the stereo for the first time, I was sure something was wrong with it.... It sounded like the speakers were out of phase - no bass at all. Turns out it was the protective cups they mpunt behind the speaker. Without adequate "box volume" behind the speaker, it can't produce bass. I removed the cups and re-installed the stock speakers, and it was much better. The Clarion drivers aren't superb, but they will stand up well in the wet environment. This winter the whole stereo is going in the trash - I'll keep you posted as i build my new "stereo with boat attached".
