Help me please.
I have a 2000 speedster. My oil got low and started beeping. I came home took off the cap and filled the big oil tank with premium plus. Then I filled the small tank on top the engine till it overflowed. I then tryed to start the boat but it will not turnover.
What do I do?
Also there is a long hose going over the engine from one side to the other. It lays along the floor and it has a long thin filter on the end of it. Did it come loose from something or has it always been laying there and I never noticed it.

I don't see why it would not turn over, unless you burned the engine by running it without oil! Another possibility is loss of oil pressure. You are not supposed to fill the second oil tank (the one towards the rear). By taking out the cap, you unpressurized the system. Oil should only be refurbished the normal way. Both oils tanks will balance out themselves.


The hose you refer to is OK. It is an engine syphon that sucks water into the engine if there is water in the bilge. That is what it's meat to do, an "automatic bilge pump" built in to the engine.

Ok I see. I definatly have a loss of oil pressure then. I put in regular quicksilver premium oil before I realized it wasn't premium plus. So then I took the big oil container completly out of the boat and emptyed it. Then I filled it full of premium plus and put it back in. also I took the cap off the little oil container and poured about 1 cup of premium plus into it untill it was overflowing.
So how do I repressurize the oil now?

Can anyone tell me what I can do? It sounds like it is out of gas when I try to start it now. It has a full tank. It was starting just fine until I tried to change the oil.

I'm not all that familiar with this model but maybe you accidentaly unhooked or bumped a sensor. ie/ throttle position sensor. Sounds like maybe it's an electrical issue, may need to take it in to dealer and have them check the electrical.

Also, maybe air got into the system. My guess is to bleed the oil system in order to take the air out.

Ok here's the latest. I took out the plugs and they are filled with oil and smell like gas. How in the world did they all get like that at once? I took them all out and cleaned them with a dry rag and put them back in. It still won't start. I took them out again and they are oily and gassy again. Kinda like me after pizza or pasta. What do I do now? Any suggestions? Maybe I will go buy some new plugs. What kind do I buy?

Sorry to say, it seems that you need an overhaul. How long did you run the engine with the beep? When you filled it, were both tanks completly empty? I'm no mechanic, butI think that when you get oil and gas mixed like you describe, the engine is shut.

No both tanks were not empty. It beeped only for a couple minutes. The big tank still had an inch in the bottom.
Here is another update.
I got new spark plugs and just installed them. I tried to start it but it still wouldn't start. So I took out the plugs and there was only a gas smell on them. I must have been mistaken about the oil smell. The new plugs still looked brand new except the smelled like gas. So there was no spark getting to them. anyone know what would make the spark go away?

OK, first off, this is a two stroke engine so oil and fuel on the plugs does not mean the engine in "shut" ( I think he meant shot) as stated above. These are both required to run these things. The next step in trouble-shooting is to check for spark. The way I do it is I have a good, non-fouled spark plug, a wire with aligator clips connected to each end. Connect one end to the part of the plug that is threaded and scews into the engine, take the other end and clip it to a suitable ground via the engine or directly to the battery negative. Install the plug wire onto the spark plug. Turn the engine over and check for spark between the electrodes. Repeat this step on all six plugs wires. If no spark check fuses under the dry storage compartment in front of the drivers console. If you have spark then either its not getting fuel (but it sounds like it is) or its flooded with fuel. Removed all six plugs and blow all the fuel out of the cylinders with compressed air. Install freash dry plugs and it should start.

Try that and let em know.

I have a somewhat similar but totally different problem!!! 2 weeks ago my beeper was screaming. First it beeped 3 times and would do this every 30 seconds or so. Then it beeped constantly and I couldn't get it to stop. This however may have been something caught underneath because it suddenly stopped beeping and the boat started moving again. Now my tank is just over half way full of 2 stroke but when it gets to hear the beeping begins. However on this day the reserve like tank on the side also went about half way down which was unusual. I refilled the main 2 stroke tank on Saturday and put it in the water but she beeped constantly and reeved high. I loosened the cap on the small reserve tank and ran the engine until it filled to the top again, I presume until the air was out. She seemed to run OK after that but still cries when the tank is half empty. Any help or suggestions would be adored! I hope this helps in some way to others too.

Intermitent beeping may indicate water contaminated fuel, nothing really to worry about.

I had a scout through the manual and it says four beeps means the oil reserve is low. If thet is the case I am still confused because the main tank would still be about half full
