I just baught a 2005 180 that is supposed to have the 215 hp SCIC engine - I just noticed that they produced a 185 SC engine for that boat also - how do I make sure I got the engine I paid for. Needless to say my faith in the dealer is somewhat lacking. Thanks for your help.

If you look towards the rear of the engine you should be able to see a red housing with black hoses going in and out of it, this is your supercharger. The intercooler is located on the front of the motor, it is a brass plate with two hoses connected to it (inlet/outlet). I would say just look at the engine cowling because it should say Supercharged Intercooled on it but my challenger 180 SCIC only said supercharged on it, not intercooled. Hope this helps

Thanks for the help - I do see the hose you refered to. Should I be concerned that my supercharger is not red? It is black - is it a replacement part?

Black is fine, they came in either color. I think they switched to red in 05 so you might have just got a boat that came off the production line earlier then mine but it's nothing to worry about...supercharger is a supercharger.
