Since I’ve been on this forum, I’ve seen many good topics. And for the record, I’ve yet to see any flame wars which I feel is a testament to the civility of those here and I, for one, appreciate it. I do have a request though……..

I know some of you hang out mostly in specific forums and therefore tend to post info about something you installed on your boat in that forum. However, please give some thought to posting your doo-dad installation here in the General Lounge forum. The reason I ask this is because although the installation is being done on a specific boat, in many cases, the installation contains elements that apply to any installation. Furthermore, your installation might just trigger some ideas or provide solutions for other Forum members’ needs. And although no one really likes to admit to their mistakes, mentioning things that went wrong or what you’d do differently would be great service to others looking to install the same thing.

For instance, I plan to chronicle the installation of my new fixed base VHF radio. Naturally, the mounting location is a bit specific to my Speedster 160. However, the method can be employed on virtually any boat.

My thought here is that the General Lounge forum then becomes a “one stop shopping� for folks looking to install a depth sounder or a GPS or a new radio or a torpedo launcher or jet turbine or whatever.

We really need a Technical Forum for engine/hull mods, specialty installs, stereos, pump upgrades etc. Then this way you can check out all the latest info and most likely alot of it will in someway apply to your own boat. This would be the place to start making some "how to" stickys as well.

In my own situation I would have lots to stick in this type of forum as I am doing the following

* Truing rideplate and intake grate for small increase in mph
* Repitching my impleller for better performance all around
* Installing full blown Marine specific stereo system with amps/subs/sat radio etc.
* Cold air intake with waterproof filter
* Removeable boat table
* Hydroturf
* Thru-hull exhaust
* New Supercharger Impeller
* Boost Gauge
* Depth Finder

So, lots of Mods and I'm sure there will something there that some of you would be interested in.

yuji - you read my mind. I was tempted to ask Kevin to create a Techincal Forum, but didn't want to burden him with adding one. Hence, my suggestion to place such info in the General Forum. However.........

A big thanks to you yuji for asking and an even BIGGER THANKS to you Kevin for making this happen in such short order!

Now.....each of us needs to go back through all of our posts and cull out our installation info and post it in the new forum! Let's load that baby up!!

Kevin - might it be too much to ask that forum members be notified in some way of the new forum and what its intent is (you can probably just plagiarize things yuji & I have said)?
