Just picked up a 06 Speedster 200 w/430 hp. Ran it on our lake for about a half hour. WOW! Big difference from our 1997 Challenger 1800- smooth and quiet until you start to get on it- love the supercharger whine!

My question is what are these engines suppose to idle at in neutral? It appears that they are both at about 2000 rpm- are they suppose to be that high? It doesn't say anything about idle speed in the operator's guide book. When the boat is in neutral, it continues to move foward slowly. Our old boat with two stroke motors would idle at about 1200 rpm and when you shifted into neutral, it stayed in place and did not creep foward.

I will ask about this at the 10 hr. check up but was curious as to what you guys think. TIA.

2000 rpm sounds a little high for a 4-tec scic - as for the forward moevement - your reverse gates may be out of line a little - dealer will be able to advise - my scic idles at around 800 rpm if i remeber correctly - my guages are bust at the moment!!!!!

I can't remember what mine idles at but I do know that in Neutral mine still crawls forward. You will have to feather between N and R in order to stay in one spot. I'm going to check and see exactly how far down my Reverse bucket goes before I hit the water next month

I picked up my 06 speedster 310 in March. I have just gotten it back from the 10 hour service. My engines idle just below 2000 rpm., and when the shifter is in neutral it continues to move forward a little as well. I asked the service tech about it when I went for a test drive and he says it is normal. I was wondering myself, but when I talk to everybody else, there new boats do the same thing. Hope this helps.

in nuetral min doesnt go forwards - just turns very slowly, by using the steering whell you can cancel this out - but there is no forward moevment at all - perhaps you are all on a downhill lake

I think the reverse bucket on Thumpers and our C-180's are different, that and possibly our rpms are higher causing too much forward thrust at idle.

If I remembers well, all the rotax 4tec are supposed to idle at 1800 rpm The thumpers 800 rpm sounds imposible ?

same for me. I was told by dealer1800rpms was normal. I do Thumpers trick with steering.

i will check my idle speed this weekend - i did say that it was possible that i could be wrong - dont tell th emissus that i admitted to that though

What up crew? Just Picked up my '06 speedster 200 on Friday night & hit the lake on Sat morning. My speedster is also running @ 1800 rpms, idling. The salesman I bought the boat from was a former SeaDoo mechanic and he told me that it would idle that high. So I wasn't worried about it. It ran GREAT all day & I can't wait to live at the lake all summer long.

My 2008 230 SE with 430 HP idles @ 2000. I had forward creep in neutral. To fix, I posted here -- Dave
