We traded an Islandia for a Challenger X last September and have taken it back to the dealer FOUR times now due to the same problem - after a couple of hours out on the water, the boat dies. They have checked out the wiring harness, changed fuel pumps, etc... On the last trip to the dealer this last weekend, they had a Mercury representative present who stated that it was a wiring problem, then a fuel pump problem. They had a fuel pump replaced and we took it out. Again, it ran fine for a couple of hours then died again.
When the boat dies, it sputters for about thirty seconds then completely dies. The starter will work, but the engine is not getting fuel. Obviously, something is causing the fuel pump(s) to malfunction, but what??
We are at the point of telling the dealer to come get the ?*&% boat!
Thanks,
Jami
