basically these little lugs have a 2mm metal bar inside them and are about 30mm long - if they break during use make sure you have a couple of 300mm plastic ties handy to secure the ladder or your enjoyment will be curtailed

just a word of warning - the plastic lugs which are on the back of the step of the boarding ladder break off easily - mine snapped off yesterday which meant i couldnt retain the ladder - it then flops around and renders the boat virtually useless - had to actually remove the ladder from the boat completely - which took some doing -
