I'm not a big yamaha fan, mostly cause I have an 04 speedster and love it, but I saw something pretty sweet on their boats at the boat show. On the AR 230's and maybe some of their other models they have an 8-10" diameter tube that you can remove a cap right above the impeller and remove debris without having to get underneath the boat or take it out of the water. I thought that was pretty sweet, as long as it worked well. If the Doos had something like that in my opinion they would be dang near perfect.

Yamaha has been using that on their jet boats for a long time. I looked at some of the exciters when I bought my waverunner in 99 and they had it. Looks like it would work really well. I just picked up my 06 speedster Friday the 24th. I looked into some of the Yamahas before I decided on the Doo, and just liked the styling and power of the Doo. I agree with you though, I think Sea Doo should have put some kind of pump cleanout like Yamaha instead of having the ICS which has gotten mixed reviews. Happy Boating.

Kev I saw from another post that you, I guess live in Charlotte and boat on norman? I used to live there for a bit. Now I'm in Greenville, SC. I have never had my boat down here yet but I hear the boating is great. I plan to bring it down next weekend for good.

I mostly boat on Mountain Island. It is the same river as Norman, just different Dams. It is not very crowded at all. There are no marinas or restaraunts on the lake so it is deserted on holidays. I used to come down to Greenville to buy paintball stuff, but haven't been there in awhile. I also boat on Lake Tillery a lot also. It is in Albemarle. I am hoping to take the new speedster out next weekend if it is kinda nice. I want to go ahead and get the motors broken in before summer gets here. Might see ya on the lake someday.

what lakes are there in SC to boat on. Don't know much about any lakes except the ones around here. Have you had good luck with your speedster. I got the blue 310hp model. I loved it after the test ride and can't wait to get it out again. Also do you do your own service on yours or take it in. If you take it in, what kind of prices are you paying for oil changes and such. I am going to take mine in for the 10 hour break in service once I reach those hours.

We have three lakes to west of me about an hor. Hartwell, Keowee, and Jocassi. I do my own work on it. It's not too bad once I figured taking the seat pans out to work on the throttle bodies. I bought my manual from Lake Norman Powersports for it. As far as I know they are about the only ones in your area for Seadoo Sportboats. As far as the boat goes, I have an 04 red with the 310. I think it's awsome. If I could change one thing it would be the ride in rough water. I am working on installing a trim system and fabing a Wakeboard tower for it. The boat runs awsome. I'm glad I didn't wait a year and get the SC model. For the price I'd take the 310, theres only a couple mph difference in speed.

I am going to try and get a wakeboard tower this summer. The dealer is checking on price. Do you pull a lot of skiers and wakeboarders and tubes with yours. I really love water sports and wondering how the boat does pulling everything. Thanks again.

I haven't pulled any boarders yet but it pulls skiers like there not even there. It will hit same top speeds with or without a tube. The only reason I know the speed is the same with or without the tube is because my buddy was stupid enough to want to go that fast.

Thanks for helping me out with all my questions. I have one more I was wanting to ask. About checking the oil. I know you have to run the boat for about 30 sec, and then shut it off for about 30 sec before checking the oil. Can I do this out of the water. Say run it for just 30 sec. and then let it sit and check the oil. I know if you run it for any lenght of time you have to hook up the flush adapter. The mechanic told me I could check the oil anytime the engine is warm. Thanks again. Glad to hear about the skiers. A friend of ours bought an 18ft Bryant 190 a couple years back. It has the 4.3L V6 220hp. He weighs about 220, and the boat has some trouble pulling him out of the water on a slalom ski. I was thinking the Doo shouldn't have this problem. Thanks again. Where in SC did you say you lived. We visit my wifes boss sometimes. She lives of exit 82C of 77, around Rock Hill and York.

I live in Greenville, but a couple budies I work with live by Norman so I'll probobly be on Narman or Wylie a lot. As far as checking the oil it is ok, but anymore than that I wouldn't. The main thing you have to worry about is the impeeler bearing heating up also but for 30 seconds you'll be fine, I do it regularly to check the oil.
