Was just wondering why Seadoo started using mercury motors for awhile in their jet boats. Were they having trouble with the rotax engines, or just didn't have a good motor to put in the jet boats. I am awaiting my 2006 speedster to come in, and am just hoping I am not going to have many problems with the rotax motors. I just got the 310 horsepower model. I figured the supercharged motors would surely give more trouble. Thanks for any info.

The new Rotax motors are state of the art and run fine. The supercharger has been trouble free for me along with many jetboat and runabout users. I think if you had the cash for SC, u should have gotten it, lots of ummphh for the throttle junkie, jmo

I might have done some more checking into the superchargers before I disregarded them. I had a friend tell me and found a couple or internet postings about people having trouble with the bearings and clutches in the superchargers. I think seadoo upgraded the bearing in 05 or 06 though. What boat do you have, the challenger 180 in the pic. How do you like it so far. I can't wait until summer. Shouldn't be too long.

I put 55 hours on my 2005 challenger 180 SCIC and no problem at all!...my previous boat was a challenger 1800 with the mercury V6 210hp and my new challenger is just much much better: The sound of the 4tec engine is very nice, performance are good, top speed 48mph( but the it was better with the C1800) fuel economy is 35% better, no more smoke , no oil to had... and the boat ride MUCH better in chop water, probably like your speedster!
The Rotax 2stroke were not very reliable : maximum 500 hours compared with new the 4tec that you can put 1500 hours easily one it
I LIKE my new boat with the 4tec engine!!
And congratulation for your new boat
You're gonna love it!

Glad to hear all of the replys. I think either way I am still going to love my speedster. I should be here Thurs. or Fri. I am glad to hear that the new 4 tecs are very reliable. I was also looking at the Yamaha jet boats, but I liked the styling of the SeaDoos and I think that some of the Yamahas skimp on horsepower, for the size of boat they are. The SeaDoo dealership around here was also much much nicer when I was looking at the different boats. I don't think I went wrong, plus I am getting the two years additional warranty on it for the promotion this year, so that is three years warranty. I think if anything is going to happen it will in that amount of time. Thanks for the good news guys..
