I've had a 2010 Speedster 150 (155hp engine) for the past 3 years.  When I first got it, I could get it up over 40mph with one person  in it.  Now, with one person it maxes out at 30mph.  That is with almost an empty tank of fuel and not much more than about 20lbs of safety gear and me in it (about 190lbs).

 

I read something on another forum about potentially the throttle cable needs to be tightened?

 

Does anybody have any other thoughts?  Or is this just how it goes with these boats?

Check to see if your impeller is damaged. And also look at your wear ring. Both of these will affect your speed if damaged. What is your speedster RPM's at full throttle? I think those 155's is 7000. And what is your condition of your spark plugs and are they properly gapped? I would check those first before going on.

Thanks.  I will check it out this afternoon.  For some reason, yesterday I thought that the RPM was over 7000 (around 7050) but I have to try that again.

I checked. You should be maxing out at 7300 RPM.

7050RPM and 33Mph tops.  I just had the impeller looked at and it seemed ok.  The wear ring looked ok too.  I think next step will be to look at the spark plugs.
