Newbie sorry. Question on the water intake grate.bought this used the intake grate is on a hinge and if you push up on the grate it hits the impeller shaft is this normal. Also I have what looks like a set of spring loaded fingers not installed on the grate. Where do these fingers go. Is it suppose to put tension on the up pressure of the grate

I have a 2005 Speedster 200.  The intake grates do not go up high enough to touch the drive shaft.  This would actually be counter productive.  It is designed to capture anything before it gets into the intake.  If it moved up that high, it would expose the intake and be useless in doing its job.  If yours does go that high, something is amiss.
