Hey all,
Picked up a Challenger 2011 180 SE two weeks ago. First weekend out and I sucked up the bow line (too long, I know now).
Details: I hit the throttle wide open from stopped position. Engine cavitated badly and then all thrust was lost. Exhaust warning came on. Shut everything down, let it cool and then restarted and just used neutral power to get my to my trailer.
I have read enough to know I have to remove the grate and cut out the line. Problem is, the previous owners likely did the same thing and there is a ton of sealant around the grate and the 5 bolts holding it in place. Being wary of snapping a bolt (they are really tight), I am taking it to the dealer.
My question, what have I likely damaged? I am terrified that I pooched the impeller and/or the driveshaft. If so, easy fix or not?
Any thoughts and comments are welcomed.
Thanks and wish me luck.
Matt
