Hi,

This is my first posting here, so I hope everything works out ok. I have been reading the forum for a few months and it has been very helpful in helping me narrow down my choices. I am going to be purchasing a speedster 200, but I'm not sure what I should be paying for one.

I have recieved a quote of $23,990 for a 2004 310 hp and a 2005 310hp for $26,990. Do either of these numbers sound reasonable? They are both brand new. I feel that the 2004 should be priced lower as it has been sitting around for over 1 year. What do you feel is a good price? Is one year better than the other in terms of quality, options, handling, top speed?

I have emailed the dealer to check on 370hp, but I haven't received a response yet.

Also, what company do you use for insurance? How much is your annual premium? This is something else I need to consider before purchasing.

How about financing...is there a preferred company?

Herman,don't know about pricing on that model as I bought a 05 sportster scic. Most major finance co. will work with you, your rate depends on your credit rating,shop around. Same for insurance,rate depends on risk. I used my State Farm agent for both and got very good rate on both.Just for comparison.Bought for 16800@5%2k down,my insurance went up $50 month. Your results will vary.

Thanks for the replies so far. Schackdaddy, have you had any problems with yours so far or is everything ok? How is the handling, top speed, etc? I am thinking about the 2004 (new) due to the price difference, but I see that another member had problems with hairline cracks in the hull. According to the posts, this was a known problem with that year/model.

The insurance rate sounds really good. Who is the company that you go through? Did you tell them it was a jet boat, a seadoo, or a bombardier? Do you have the the 310hp or the 370hp?

We paid $27,000 and loose change for our 2004 Speedster 310hp in July of 2005.Included in the price was a Coast Guard package,(all safety equipment)and a new matching bimini top.The only two problems we've encountered were a steering wheel out of adjustment and throttle cables out of adjustment.Carefull inspection has revealed no signs of any cracking.Top speed to date has been 57.3 mph by Garmin GPS.Fuel economy has been approx. 6 GPH. running at 31 MPH. and approx. 5300 RPM.My wife and I both love this boat.A big adrenalin rush at top speed,in tight turns,and awesome acceleration.Our insurance also is about $300 a year.We've done some tubing off this boat,also some swimming off the swim platform,and had as many as 7 adults on this boat.We are already planning how we will use the boat next year.Hope this helps in your decission making.Gary.

Thanks for the reply. I apprecaite your comments. I am also looking for the adrenaline rush as I used to ride PWC's years ago and loved them. I haven't been on one for about 8 years and also want a boat, so I thought this would be the way to go. Thanks for the infomration on th pricing. It soulds as if I'll be getting an ok deal if I go through with it.

I have my insurance through nationwide, my rate is pretty low because we have 6 cars and 2 boats insured through them. My boat is the 310 model. I have no cracks so far and it has about 20 hours on it and has taken some super hard landing off of waves and has no signs of damage. I love the boat. As gary said I too have throttle and steering adjustments to my boat as well. I am very happy with it so far. Any time i have problems with it or thought I had problems it has been my own stupidity like wondering why my motors will not start in in forward. Rookie mistake.

Good news . I mentioned to my insurance agent that people were getting better rates. And he brought mine down. And i did not have to switch to the GECKO.

Well, I emailed two delaers the same email (withj both email addresses so they knew I was shopping). I recieved an email back from another sales person at the same place that told me $23950. This person told me $21500 for the same boat! I may just have to go with this one!

Thanks for all the information on the insurance. It's great to hear that gofast was able to get a better rate because of the numbers posted on this board. Approx. $300/yr sounds like it's the magic number. I will keep that in mind.

Hello there. We bought our 2004 in September and paid $23-ish, included the bimini top, wake tower, and 7 Seadoo lifejackets. We financed ours through the dealership and payment is around $280/month. Insurance is around $50 a month. Pretty high, but we live in TX...longer season and one of the highest rates of uninsured boaters, as well as motorists.
We've topped speed at only 51mph, but that's with the speedometer (not GPS) so it's more likely higher than that. We've done just about everything you can do on that boat...ski, wakeboard, tube, kneeboard, as well as just hanging out swimming and drinking a few beers.
We love ours....now. We did have some issues with the rough ride in the beginning, but you said you're used to jet skis, so that shouldn't be an issue for you. Frankly, it scared the heck out of me *wife raises hand*. A ballast bag in the ski locker fixed that right up, as well as adding bigger wake for wakeboarding.

I'm glad to see i'm not the only one paying $50/month for full-coverage jet-boat insurance. I'm currentl;y with state far . . . but other boaters with bigger boats are telling me its possible to insure for $275/year.

A new top of the line Seedster 200 can approach $30,000.

I'm already preparing to purchase my 2nd jet-boat; and have been researching it pretty hard since May 2005.

I have learned in dealing with Bombardier that there is alot of wiggle room.

Here are some important variables: [1] if the boat is stored outside in shrink-wrap that is worth a price reduction due to the hull discoloration [2] carefully look for blemishers, discoloration and flaws: they all have them and the discount for that is usually worth around $1500 [3] try to purchase a "leftover" jet-boat from the previous year - it is still new but the dealer will typically offer a nice discount just to get it off the lot. I have noticed whether I am in the Ocean, River, Lake or Bayou that these boats are rare. You will see way more Bombardier Jet-Skiis rather than other jet-boats. The jet-skiis will piss you off because they are about the only thing that can pass a jet-boat.

I ended up buying my jet-boat new for a straight $9500 after bombardier ended up disounting the price due to imperfections. {Thery all have them} Once I got over the blemishes - it has turned out to be one of the finest, best performing boats I have ever owned. The beauty of the Bombardier Jet-Boat is in the mechanical side; not the appearance side. The quotes you are receivng sound fairly accurate for the type of boat you are attempting to buy. Once again . . . alot of wiggle room here - the dealer definately wants it off his/her lot NOW. Rarely with BNombardier are there major changes from year to year.

Further; negotiate at least [3] cases of Sea-Doo Synthetic oil prior to buying your new boat. At $34/gallon - the oil is dear. I get about 3-4 good trips out of each gallon of Sea-Doo oil. It is part of owning this type of boat.

Have you tried another oil. i assuming your talking 2-stroke. Either way there are many other brands of synthetic 2 and 4 stroke oil out there that are very good. I recomend Amsoil to anyone that needs a high quality 2 stroke oil. I run it in everything I have that is a 2 stroke.

Thanks for the advise. I will keep that in mind when I go to look at the boat. It is about 1 hr. away from me, so I have been negotiating over email. I will be going there toward the end of next week to look at it.

They have already committed to $21500 plus $400 if I want a cover. I will check for the blemishes and see if I can get them to come down any lower. They are holding it for me until next week, so hopefully they'll agree just to get rid of it. The oil would definately be an added benefit, so if they won't come down on price, I'll see if they'll include the oil.

Do you happen to know what size ball I will need for my hitch? I haven't purchased one yet and obviuosly want to make sure I get the right size.

My insurance, including underinsured, will be about $450/yr. $350 without. If anyone lives in Washington State, I can give you the phone number to call.

That's one of the benifits of running the 4-tec motors. No more oil! (except when changing the 4-stroke oil, once a year for me during winterization).
