Temporary fix for rough ride

I was even so brave as to try a few tricks. Still no guts for the sub moves, but we did the hard turns at about 40mph, some figure 8's, and even jumped a few wakes! Talk about FUN. It's still scary as hell when someone else is driving, but not so bad when you get to doo it yourself.

That has the effect of lowering the bow, this is what trim tabs doo. The added weight also helps a lot, that why I say I do not feel rough rides anymore on my Utopia 205, afer adding the tab and a 40 gallon freshwater tank. This tank weights +/- 320 #, and I located it center - front, between the floor and the hull. Apart from stabilizing the ride, it's great for showering the kids (and myself) after boating. Of course, I sacrificed top speed! At the suggestion of a friend of ours, we put 3 bags of concrete (wrapped in trash bags and taped up of course) in the foot locker at the bow. Worked like a charm! It's great for when it's just us or just our little family....i.e no one riding up front. They're 80# bags, so it's like having 2 adults up front. Hubby and I went out alone this past weekend and were able to get her up to full speed with not one bounce! Yipee!

I gather, by your tone, that you are now really happy with your Doo and I guess those second thoughts are out?!?!At the suggestion of a friend of ours, we put 3 bags of concrete (wrapped in trash bags and taped up of course) in the foot locker at the bow. i would use sand not cement - if one of those bags were to split......it would be impossible to remove set concrete

The bags are just temporary. I've ordered those "bladder bags" or whatever they're called to use up front instead. I was hoping they'd come before this weekend since I ordered them last week, but it doesn't look like they will. So one more weekend with the concrete.excellent glad to hear you are happy with your doo - just one thing

And rickster, yes, VERY happy with the boat now. It's really a lot of fun! I guess I just needed to give it more time and experiment more. I really hope the trim system comes out soon. Until then, it looks like a little weight distribution will have to do. But so far, it's working very well!
