I was looking around to see if anyone else had this problem, but could not find this exact situation. I have a 2004 Speedster 200.

In my stern under seat storage areas near the drain holes I have stress cracks and fiberglass damage from where the hull and deck meet...directly underneath the drain hole.

Took the boat into the dealer, they lethargically took photos and submitted to BRP.

I had noticied, while trying to assess the damage, that in between the deck and hull where they meet under the drain plug that there are caulking like substance and a wire mesh forming pads. You can easily see them if you duck your head down in the ski locker. Well I noticed that one pad is like a pancake and misformed and the other is about 2 inches thick and very bisquit like.

Has anyone else discovered that their pads separating their deck and hull are misformed and causing cracking in the storage under the bow seats?

I am hoping BRP will make good on this but my dealer is not as passionate as one of the other dealers I read about...they are one of the largest in Los Angeles, but just being very pationate about my boat.

BRP already declined one Warranty request because the dealer did not adequately explain what I just explained, they only sent photos of the damage not photos of the improperly formed pads that caused the damage. BRP said the only way this damage could occur would be to be jumped over waves or having heavy items in these compartments. These compartments have held ski ropes, and bumpers. I have not even done a successful 360 yet, jump waves, are you kidding me?!!!

Does anyone else notice this problem with a speedster 200 2004?

I love the boat but if it is not covered by Warranty it will be a B.O.A.T. you know...(bust out another thousand!!)

Reading how BRP handled other situations on this board, I hope they will make good on this one. My dealer is just needing lots of motivation.

I attached a photo, it is in a shadow, but it shows the fiberglass damage and if you look close it shows they surrounding spider cracks.

It's just you.....

Jeep- the most important 2 things for you right now IS your relationship with the dealer and THEIR relationship with BRP. Sadly, if they don't handle everything just right the first time, it will be a difficult experience trying to get the right thing done with your situation.
I have seen pics of other 2004 200's with structural damage due to one reason or the other, but not in this spot exactly. Good luck with yer BOAT.

I hope my dealer cares about our relationship. I hope to leave a voicemail tonight, which will be passionate, and should cause a quick response.

I am also planning on going down their Saturday to throw some weight around. And take my boat and all my business away from them if I have to.

On Saturday I will be sure to take pictures and to upload them. It will help everyone see and maybe rally more responses.

Wow imagine that, here it is 12noon, and we are now covered under warranty.

I just had to be persistant and not back down.

So I got the boat back, and wow, they sure did doo a ton of work. It was probably in the thousands of dollars range. The dealer had to really find someone who knew what they were talking about which was some work.

Apparently Bombardier knew about the problem with my boat and other S200. BRP changed the boats that they still had in their stock however, some did not get fixed before they were shipped out and or sold.

The problem is/was that they built the boat putting too much pressure on the storage compartments in the bow under the seats. Which leads to them cracking.

When I picked up my boat my service rep. told me another boat which was only had for 1 week was coming in for the exact same fix.

There will be other Speedster 200's with this problem, check yours out. If your boat uses the under seat storage compartments to support the deck, be extra careful.

The fix was to completely re-glass the crooss beam which runs under the bow seats and forms the front of the ski locker. When the weather clears up I should get some photos.

If anyone encounters this problem, I can give you my service reps name and number, and she can tell you, or your dealer the specifics.

So I am assuming this was fixed on the 05 S-200s?

I believe it has been fixed for the new model year. My dealer made it sound like only a few boats snuck out from Mother BRP. I bought my boat 8/04, so an 05 boat I would hope is in the clear.

This model is having the same problem in Puerto Rico, and BRP said that it was misuse and/or the seas around Puerto Rico. Local dealerbattled BRP to get it covered under warranty and they did, for at least one boat that I know of!
