New Owner Unhappy with Top Speed

With a bimini top installed but down, 3/4 tank of gas, and me and one passenger, I only managed 55.4 mph as a top speed. There was no wind, and the water was calm but not glass-smooth. My rpms showed 7,800 port and about 7,600 stbd.
Wasn't this boat supposed to hit the mid-60's with two 185-Hp engines? I can see a slight dropoff in speed for the extra weight, but 8 mph?
I would appreciate others' comments on the top speed of their boats. I'm a little bit disappointed with the top speed. Out-of-the-hole performance is fine, it's just the stop speed that I'm not happy with...

We own a 2004 Speedster 200 with twin 155's.We carefuly broke the motors in for the first 10 hours and then had the 10 hour check done.Throttles never more than 3/4 open and max rpm 5500 with varying speeds and loads.We used the Seadoo 5-40 synthetic oil for this oil change.Our performance figures are as follows,Seadoo speedometer registered 55 mph,Garmin GPS 66.5mph at full throttle.Second reading next day,Seadoo speedometer 58 mph,Garmin GPS 66.5 MPH.Water conditions were smooth with no wind and running with a 3mph current,bimini top down,1/2 tank of fuel and two people on board.This thing runs and turns like a scalded dog shot out of a rifle.Closest thing to a Corvette on the water I have ever seen.We are extremely happy with this boat.And by the way,fuel economy has been verified to be approx.6 gallons per hour at 5300 rpm and a 31 mph cruise speed.I bought an '05 S200 370 back in July. I would say somthing is up. I was getting 54.8 on my Garmon-GPS12 in calm water earlier this year with my twin 155s ('05 S200). I get about 7300RPM on both motors. The speedo was fairly close (1-2MPH) to the GPS reading. My tests were done with 3/4 tank of gas and about 370 pounds of passengers (me and my son) and probably around 50 pounds of gear (anchor, pads, PFDs, tools, flares...).I bought an '05 S200 370 back in July. After passing 10 hours and having its first service, I decided to start opening it up.

just a thought - is this boat in the water all the time - what is the state of the hull below the waterline - clean or dirty - a dirty hull will knock 10mph off your top speed - jet wash the hull and try it unless you already have - then i would make representations to your dealer.I bought an '05 S200 370 back in July. I have the same boat, took it out a few weeks ago, water had about a 4 inch chop, full fuel, by myself 220 lbs, temp was in the low 80's, (Tampa Bay area), fresh water, have about 4 hours on it, best run was 59.1 with several runs over 58. The left engine is running about 200 more rpms than the right, would think I would be at 60 once it opens up all the way. The none SC models run 7300 or about 54 mph per the boat test I have read. The SC are suppose to run 7500 or 60-61. Have you had any electrical problems with the boat? Thanks Bill.I bought an '05 S200 370 back in July. Dealer told me quick wot runs were ok after the first tank. 10 hours does make sense, thanks.you run at WOT and you have only 4 hours on your boat, you are supposed to await 10 hours (break in periode) before runnig WOT, your supercharger clutch risk to failed. Give im the time to break in!

Runs were made with fresh batteries.We believe this is more representative of what the boat can do.Our boat is the Speedster 200 with the 155's.We also think the top speed may improve some more as the engines become more broken in.If our speed and rpm's improve we will leave a message on this site.Thanks

I managed to register a 57.3 reading with GPS; Speedo registered 42 mph, BTW.
This was with just me driving, 1/3 tank of gas. Bimini top was down but still on boat; I wonder if I could get another couple MPH out of it if I took the bimini all the way off?!?!?!?!?
Still showing about a 400 rpm difference between stbd and port engines...

We had the same problem with our rpms differing between engines.Also our throttle levers did not line up at varying speeds.They were as much as 1/2 inch off.We asked our dealer to adj. the cables during our 10 hour check.After we got the boat back and after approx $60 for the adj. I still wasn't happy.I purchased a Seedoo factory workshop manual and adj. the cables myself to factory specifications.Both cables were not adj. properly.With the correct adj. our throttle levers line up,our rpm only shows a 100 rpm difference and our top speed and idle are better.Thanks.I took the boat out on Sunday - very light chop, slight wind....
I managed to register a 57.3 reading with GPS; Speedo registered 42 mph, BTW.

Does the Throttle Position Sensor do ANYTHING? You would think that it would compensate for differences between the two engines, but I guess not...
How about any information regarding adjustment of the jet nozzles? It seems like my boat pulls to the starboard side above 5,500 rpms....

The idle stop screws cannot be adjusted on the throttle bodies and can only be factory adj.There is a small amount of cable adj. available at the cables near each throttle body at the front of each engine.Cables must have a free play of 1/64 to 5/32 of an inch.Check to make sure that each of the throttles are completely closed with the throttle levers at the full idle position and that the throttles fully open with the levers at full forward position.At idle position each cable should have a very small amount of free play.The ideal is that each side looks and feels to be the same.As long as the throttle body screws have not been tampered with and you only have to make a small cable adj. the throttle position sensor setting should be ok.If not, you will have to take your boat to your dealer and have the throttle position reset.I believe that having The Seadoo factory workshop manual is extremely valuable and gives indepth explanations of all adjustments and how and why each of the boat's components work.And by the way,cable adjustment lock nuts will need to have Locktite after the proper adjustment has been made.I hope this helps some,Thanks Gary LegatesCan you describe the proper way to adjust the throttle cables? I have the same problem. I have a 2004 speedster with the twin 155's and only get 45-46 mph. I was hoping for faster. It does however have no effect pulling a tube, it will still go 44-45 mph. I am looking for anyone who has trim tabs on their speedster to share the outcome, either on the jet or the boat. I'd rather have the jet style because the thought of drilling holes into my brand new boat dosn't sound good to me.I bought an '05 S200 370 back in July. My '05 S200 with 155's GPS's in at just under 55MPH pretty much regardless of loading.I have the same problem. I have a 2004 speedster with the twin 155's and only get 45-46 mph. 44-45 mph was by the speedo on the boat. The reason I was unhappy is because usually the speedo says more than GPS does. Now I just need a trim system. For anyone who cares I talked with Tim Place of Place Diverters and their going to look into a jet trim system like the merc they have but for the Rotax jets this year.I have the same boat and hit 62mph on a gps but my Spedo on the boat only reads 42mph.
