I just bought a 2001 240 HP EFI and it tops out at 45 MPH.
It is turning around 5000 RPM at this speed, can't get anymore out of it.
Is there a simple adjustment that will allow me to bring it up to the 6250 RPM that the specs call out for?
Thanks

With mine the best I ever got out of it was 56 mph via a GPS. You should be at least in the low 50s. The speedo is way off. As for your RPM is the throttle cable allowing it to open up fully? There are a some adjustments there to try. I'm not sure how accurate the tach is.I just bought a 2001 240 HP EFI and it tops out at 45 MPH.

Another possibilty is the impellor - have a look to see if it's dinged up.
Where in NY do you boat? I'm usually on the Hudson River on the weekends

56 MPH on GPS sounds about right, That is the best I've done in my Utopia 205. Then again, had the wife and two kids on board...With mine the best I ever got out of it was 56 mph via a GPS.
