- Will it have enough to pull a skier ?
- Will it have enough to pull a wakeboarder?
- What do I need to look for before buying?(direct Inj?)
- Should I pay about the same for a larger older boat?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated Thanks and I am glad I found this site. feel free to brag about these boats I want to know what I can expect and where the best bang for the buck will be.

I had an '03 Sportster for a couple of years. Some answers:Very new to the boating world. there is a 2003 14' sportster for sale here and I was thinking it would be lots of fun for myself and young family. It is 155hp has 20hrs and about 5K less than new.

Yes it will pull a skiier. It may have just a little trouble with heavy single ski starts, but it can be done.
Yes it will pull a wakeboard, but it won't produce much of a wake. None of the jet's do very well with a large wake without a bunch of ballast and the Sportster won't carry much.
I would get a water test before buying. If the pump/engine is in good shape you should get on a plane very quickly (2-3 seconds tops) and you should get a top end of around 46-47MPH GPS with a light load. The power plant is very reliable.
Used boat prices very quite a bit. It depends on where you live and what's available.
The Sportster is a great small family boat. It will do well on fuel when compared to other comperable boats. It handles chop well for a small boat. We had fun with ours but needed a bit more space for more than 4 adults so we traded up to a Speedster 200.
