Sorry for the delayed response but here is some additional information I was able to gather for the Medallion Viper system featured in the MY2012 boats.
1. The Medallion Chart Plotter Application supports the following map Navionics Map Databases:
- For Boaters who boat primarily on Lakes we recommend Hot Maps Lakes Premium Charts.
- For Boaters who Boat primarily on Intercoastal waters we recommend Marine Gold Charts.
2. The card may only be inserted one way as there are tabs in the card reader and slots in the SD Card designed to ensure that the card is inserted correctly. If the display is oriented as shown below the SD card is inserted with the contacts facing up and the label facing down. When inserting a card you will hear a click as it locks into place.
The SD Card Reader is spring loaded. So to release the inserted SD card just push it in until you hear a click and then let go of the card and the card will release and pop out far enough that you can grab it. Go to the full post

I can not find any information on the type of map card to add, how to update the system with new map data etc. All Sea-Doo states online is *Maps not included.
Based on a video review BRP has online I assume it is a navionics SD Card that is inserted into back of unit, however i have no clue which type of navionics cards it accepts, and the unit allows an SD card to put in flipped both ways. I currently have a Navionics Gold SD Card inserted (tried both directions) and I get nothing! Anyone have this model or any experience with this issue?

Here are the steps to follow:
1) With power off, insert the card with the contacts facing up. (The display do not download the maps at once. It needs access to the card while in the NAV mode so the card has to stay inserted all the time.)
2) Power up the display and press NAV.
Notes: If the NAV is accessed 1st and then the card inserted under power, the display will not load the new maps. The display loads the new maps the 1st time NAV is press. Even tough not recommended, the card could also be inserted under power before NAV mode has been selected and the display would still load the maps.
Can we make sure they have the right sw version?

maps. Has anyone else ever heard of this? When they do not publish any information about the unit,
how are you to know which way it goes, and I thought that it would not go but one way?
Has anyone else ever heard of this.
Thanks,

I just don't understand even if the chip was put in backwards, how does that mess up the complete dash unit.

The problem is it did not work to start with, it has never zoomed in past 75 miles.
I sent several emails to seadoo and dealer trying to get help in how to insert chip,
and I got no help from either so I had no choice but to try on my own.
Besides putting a chip in upside down should not destroy the unit.

I installed the card as per instructions above, i.e. take plastic cover off, and insert card with pins facing up. The card slides in and is spring loaded, so one push to load, and another to eject.
Both cards worked fine. I installed the cards with everything off.
Couple of comments....first, getting behind the dash to install the card is a pain, especially with the all the cables and unfinished fibreglass. Secondly, the maps do not load into the system, you need to have the card in for the system to use the maps. I believe this is true of all navionics charts.
Otherwise, everything is as expected.
