Good morning fellow Doo'z. I am spankin new here and I am seeing a lot of newer Doo-sterz and few older Doo forums. I am not sure if this appropriate but here goes anyways.
Q: I have a 1996 Seadoo Sportster and it runs great, looks great and I just have one issue. BATTERIES!!! What is the deal with the cryptic online lack of battery finders for this darn thing? I mean really, every website that I goto says something similar but completely different at some point that throws me for a loop. All I am trying to accomplish is purchasing 2 new AGM marine batteries for my boat. I am wanting to put in much more powerful batteries as well. The question is this. Can I just buy any AGM battery that has compatible terminals and expect to get a whole day of jetting around the lake and many hours in between chillin' at a cove with my radio on and sometimes at night with some additional nice low AMP LED light that I have also installed? I mean the boat takes two batteries so I should be able to do whatever I want yes? I also am confused as to if I need to buy a dual purpose for cranking and deep cycling for my other toys that need the juice? Or should I buy one of each and switch the switch accordingly when I am not running the engine? I don't have an owners manual and I am pretty positive that it would not cover what kind of batteries I should be using to run all the extra juice sucking toys that I have onboard anyways. All aftermarket of course. I am just not wanting to ever get stuck out there again with some weak batteries so I am willing so spend the coin. I just ordered a new cover and hydro-mats too and I am excited about those for sure... Anyone also possbily want to try to explain what the 1 - 2 - BOTH switch is all about? I was just told to have that off when it's not in the water and to run it on BOTH when it's in the water by the previous owner. I am a pretty technical person so I have the desire to find out the right way and for the right reasons to run this boat's electrical resources in the right position and again, why they have the options for all three positions in the first place.
I am sure that someone can answer some of these questions in a lot less words than I used to ask them so thank you to anyone that has taken the time to get this far. It's an old and bad habbit of mine...
Best to you all! Thank you for having me here in your outstanding forum too!

Noob with questions about where to post my questions...

Nope! No dope in that thread... I just bought a couple of $220 AGM M34 Dual Purpose Marine blue tops from BATTERIES PLUS+ and they outspec the new crappy mexico produced Optima. I believe they are made for BATTERIES PLUS+ by a company called PowerSonic...at least I'm pretty sure that's what the sales clerk said when I asked. Plus they come with a 4 year warranty instead of the 3 year that comes with Optima. They have a much beefier over spec as well and should last a very long time jamming the Bob Marley and lighting up the cove with my ridiculously bright LED spots and floods that I have mounted on every corner and even on the bimney! Woohoo! now, when is that darn Hydro-Turf finally going to show up so that I can play some more... The new boat cover from POPPY BOAT COVERS RAWKS too!! I love the vacuum seal that does and the rigid angled air flow vents for driving and the heavy duty reinforced cleat holes are sick! The tent pole for the middle of the bow is also another feature that I was quite stoked to see it come with considering the amount of weight water weighs and what the sun will ultimately do to it here in the AridZone... Might even keep the stupid neighbors cat off and out of the damn thing too! The starboard side also have a very nice built in ratcheting cinch so that the seal is complete... I will up a picture when I figure out how to deal with the after-markey bimney though. It's causing the sides to not be able to be competely secured...
