to mix or not to mix

I have the same year model boat as you guys, and I have thought about this before. There is absolutely nothing wrong with our injection system, first of all. The pump on my boat is original as well. If this were really a problem, you would hear alot about it. If it worries you, replace the pump with a new one. What if the new one failed. You would be no better off. The fact of the boat having variable rate oil injection shouldn't have anything to do with performance. It is variable rate because it varies the rate of oil injected with RPM. the more RPM, the more oil. Sounds like what I want to happen. If you want to premix, there is nothing wrong with that. Just be sure you mix enough oil in to the 27 gallons of fuel you have. And make sure you understand exactly what has to be done to strip the injection system out. I really should just say DONT DO IT!!! Stick with what you have. At the least, make sure the lines and oil filters are in good shape. If not, replace them all.

As Tiggerman said on both point first off welcome aboard!! & I wouldnt worry Skidoo (Rotax snowmobiles) have been using them for years & there are plenty ofhigh mi & years out there still running strong!!
hey thanks for the reply. i read a few posts on another board about this a few years ago but i dont remember what they said. my friend and i just got to talking about it the other day and it got me kinda thinking. do our boats have an alarm that tells you if oil stopped flowing? that was the other thing we were thinking about, putting in a flow switch with an alarm. but as far as i know my pump is working fine i would just hate to find out the hard way.
